What Up Blog?: Alex turns 2

My baby is no longer a baby. As of July 25, 2010 she is now 2 years old, which I believe officially makes her a toddler. She has Lance's "best"hair, his "worst" asthma, and hopefully something of mine mixed in there somewhere. She has the most charming smile and the most pathetic cry, both of which tend to get her what she wants. She loves to play with "kids" and is in the process of learning to share. I love the way she continually finds wonder in the everyday objects around her usually causing her sentences to begin with gasps of excitement. For example "(excited gasp) the computer", or "(excited gasp) mommy's shoes", or most often heard "(excited gasp) CARS?!" She currently likes walks with her wagon, trying on pretty dresses and every pair of shoes she can find, and lat but not least Cars (the movie).

In line with her somewhat contradictory tastes here is our Princess Cars party.

The cake, curtesy of my wonderful mother-in-law Shellie, is modeled after her favorite Car, Doc. Alex is always very concerned when Doc gets hurt in the movie and likes to watch him "race fast". Although she declined eating any, she was nevertheless delighted with her Doc cake, as was everyone else who actually did eat it.

Presents include a wide array of Cars paraphernalia (much too generous but much appreciated/adored by Alex), a pink personal laptop (which she loves and has helped save our real ones), and a Princess dress up and Cinderella doll. (most of which are either being worn or carried below)

She also got a swing set from Mom & Dad. Many happy hours have been spent sliding down the slide, throwing cars/sticks/leaves/etc. down the slide, and giggling on the swings. Lance and Brian spent almost as many hours putting this masterpiece together, but just look at that smile. Ahh reward.
